Titian's Venus of Urbino (1538)

According to the second volume of Kleiner's Gardner's Art through the Ages: The Western Perspective,Titian's Venus of Urbino (1538) was commissioned by Guidobaldo II della Rovere, the Duke of Urbino.

The erotic oil may have been commissioned to celebrate the Duke's 1534 marriage to eleven-year-old Giulia Varano.

Per Hale's Titian: His Life, Angela del Moro, a Venice courtesan, was the model for the painting that currently sits in the Uffizi Gallery Museum in Florence.

I haven't been able to verify Moro's age, but a City College of New York coed related to me that her art professor shared that Moro was fifteen-years-old when she modeled for Titian.
